I’m Tara.

I love designing, building, elevating, and empowering. Whether that’s elevating the HR function, building high performance HR leaders, or strategy work, I am committed to creating the best experiences and work environments where everyone thrives.

  • Facilitated complex organizational change by leading a portfolio of programs that expedited transformation
  • Spearheaded change agility, cultural development, & employee experience efforts that reduced turnover, improved communications, and prepared employees for new ways of working
  • Evolved multiple HR departments and operating models
  • Coached thousands of business leaders in my HR roles; Executive coached hundreds in my private business
  • Built various HR Portfolios and taught HR teams how to effectively project manage

In thinking about some of the biggest challenges in the realm of HR, it was clear. Friction between HR and the business. Inability to be nimble. Ineffective execution. Reactive not proactive. Strategic capabilities are not there or not visible. Lack of alignment with the business.

I’ve heard it, lived it, felt it. And when you’re in the work, it’s often hard to see the path to addressing these challenges. It feels overwhelming. The bandwidth isn’t there. The how seems impossible.

About Tara

Tara Cox is a multi-certified HR Consultant, People & Culture Leader, and Executive coach with over 25 years of experience. Acting as both an architect for vision and strategy and a catalyst to guide them through, Tara’s efforts help drive people, processes and performance to the next level. Her ability to empower those on the front line as well as influence the board and C-suite, has earned her tremendous respect throughout her career. Passionate about organizational health, employee experience, culture, change management and talent management, Tara has a reputation for providing diverse and consultative leadership excellence that propels change, delivers results and accelerates business goals. Her executive leadership encompasses advisory, coaching, and critical business partnering to executive leadership and functional business leaders in the design of innovative people strategies and solutions that overcome a variety of business challenges, including cultural alignment and complex organizational change.

Her experience includes a variety of industries, company sizes and structures, US and global employees, board and C-suite partnership, as well as playing pivotal leadership roles in large-scale transformations and M&A activity. She integrates systems thinking and human-centered design thinking in her approach and always wears a change management lens. Tara brings her curiosity and love of improving experiences to every endeavor and is passionate about helping people move through change so that when major disruptions occur, they are resilient and equipped to sustain high performance

Tara holds SPHR and SHRM-SCP certifications, is Certified Professional Coach (CPC), a Certified Change Practitioner and Human Centered Design Certified Practitioner. She has studied NLP, NASM CPT, and is currently finishing her EFT certification. Outside of work, Tara loves spending time with her two children and finds joy in people, nature, fitness, sports, music and art. She enjoys serving on the SESHRM board, volunteering at Junior Achievement of South Dakota and with Feeding South Dakota.
